The City of Jal, New Mexico

Among Jal's special attractions is Jal Lake Park, which is the centerpiece of a 10-acre recreational oasis in the middle of the desert.  The man-made lake, when viewed from the air, actually spells out the name of the city and resembles the cattle brand which inspired the city's name.  Jal Lake has become an important landmark for pilots as they fly overhead, and is periodically stocked with fish which provides year-round fishing to residents and visitors.  The recreation area also has tennis courts, a basketball court, playground equipment in several areas and a workout station.  There are also picnic pavilions (that are available to rent, contact the Jal Police Department 575-395-2501), barbeque pits, and RV spaces available. Please note: the parking of any recreational vehicle at the Jal Lake RV Park area will be limited to three consecutive days. (Ord. 2022-007, passed 03-21-2022).
